World's Update!
Guten tag,
In Bavaria, Germany it is quite acceptable to be drinking a beer on a patio at 9AM (or even 6:25AM as we witnessed this morning on the way to Team Canada training).
In Plattling they really do serve giant pretzels (with the aforementioned beer).
In Plattling you can buy a delicious home-made sausage almost anywhere (along with your pretzel and beer).
In Plattling you can eat a delicious home-made ice-cream for less than 1 Euro (after your pretzel, beer, and sausage).
In Plattling if you try to speak German and ask for your bill you receive free shots of some unknown liquor.
In Plattling you can train for the upcoming 2011 ICF Freestyle Kayaking World Championships.
Annie and I have been doing all of the above for the last week and are having a great time. The hole is different than we are used to on the Ottawa – and changing every day – so it is taking some adjustment, but that’s what paddling is all about. It is amazing to watch some of the top hole boaters here. The combos they are pulling off are spectacular – some people seem to be linking almost their whole 45 second ride with great smoothness. There has been debate in the kayaking world about how exciting it can be to watch hole paddling…I think that anyone watching the top men and women here will agree that it doesn`t need to be a massive wave to be entertaining. There are lots of Level Six team members here so stay tuned for more updates.
Zack and Annie
