View this post on Instagram We didn’t really know a whole lot about the Rio Cochamó except that it is super steep, has too much water until January and requires horses to carry gear to the top. At the bottom of the track we almost had some horses lined up but the owner pulled out at the last minute. So our only option was to put our kayaks on our shoulders and hike five hours to the top. Once we got to La Junta (the top), it started raining and we settled in for the night. The next morning we got to see the valley that the rain clouds hid from us the day before. Fresh snow covered massive granite domes that had raging waterfalls run off them. We were worried about there being too much water in the river so we decided to hang out in the valley for an extra day. That night the sky was clear and in the morning the waterfalls had stopped. We decided this was our best window to paddle so we got on the river.
